Horizon 2020: Calls for 2016-2017 now online with 560 million Euros to boost farm productivity and sustainability and rural growth

How to renew our farming and food systems to feed 9 billion people with nutritious food?

How to develop our farms competitiveness, resource-efficiency and resilience in a changing climate?

How to boost rural areas sustainable growth potential?

These are some of the core questions which projects financed by the newly published Horizon 2020 work programme for 2016-2017 will have to answer. With an unprecedented budget of 560 million Euros for agriculture, forestry and rural research and innovation, Europe intends to boost investment in food systems and rural development.

EIP-AGRI members will find most funding opportunities in the calls “sustainable food security" and "rural renaissance". But they will also be able to benefit from calls spread in different parts of Horizon 2020 such as “SME instrument”, “Internet of Things” and “Industry 2020 in the Circular Economy".

The new work programme will also give a new boost to the EIP-AGRI with €371 million, spread over 38 topics, dedicated to multi-actor projects which will feed their practical solutions into the network. These projects allow researchers and practitioners to jointly work on innovative solutions that can be applied in the field.

New EIP-AGRI brochure on Horizon 2020: Find your way through different funding opportunities for agricultural research and innovation

Now that the Horizon 2020 work programme for 2016-2017 has been published by the European Commission, the new EIP-AGRI brochure on “Funding opportunities under Horizon 2020 – calls 2016” aims to guide you through the topics and opportunities for 2016 that may interest members of the EIP-AGRI network.

Finding your way through networking and cooperation initiatives in agriculture and forestry through Research &Innovation

The European Union supports various initiatives that bring scientists, farmers, foresters and the industry together, and that can reduce the fragmentation and unnecessary duplication of research efforts. Some of these initiatives concentrate on networking and identifying research needs, while others finance research activities.

The EIP-AGRI brochure “Research and Innovation across EU borders” helps you find your way through research networking and cooperation initiatives in agriculture and forestry. It gives a thematic overview of European Research Area Networks (ERA-NETs), Joint Programming Initiatives (JPIs), Public Private Partnerships (PPPs) and European Technology Platforms (ETPs) that are relevant to productive and sustainable agriculture and forestry in the EU.

Exploring research projects and results may even give you inspiration to set up Operational Groups, start follow-up applied research or look for organisations that are active in your field.

The EIP-AGRI Service Point is based in Brussels. You can reach us from Monday to Friday from 9:00 – 17:00. By phone +32 2 543 73 48 or email servicepoint@eip-agri.eu
