European Congress of Rural Municipalities

Commission of Territorial Cohesion Policy of the Committee of the Regions and Union of Rural Communes of the Republic of Poland – the biggest association uniting rural and rural-urban municipalities in Poland – are honoured to invite you to the European Congress of Rural Municipalities  scheduled for 20 October 2011, in the Congress Hall of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. The Congress, under patronage of the President of the Republic of Poland and the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, is a major event during the Polish Presidency in the Council of European Union. We are expecting about 1,200-1,500 participants from Poland and the European Union.

The main theme of the Congress is a question ‘Which cohesion policy for rural areas after 2013?’ Current questions vital for European rural local governments shall be discussed, such as using Structural Funds for rural areas development as well as optimal model ensuring sustainable development In towns and rural areas.

Congresses of rural municipalities, organised yearly, have always been a crucial event, widely covered by the media. The Congress we are honoured to invite you to is a special one due to its European dimension and importance of discussed topics, such as the future of rural areas and their problems in the European Union.

We are expecting numerous eminent guests; representatives of central government, Parliament and local governments from Poland, European Union Commissioners, representatives of the Committee of the Regions and delegations of local government associations from all over Europe. The simultaneous interpretation into six languages shall be provided.
